Citizenship by Investment

The only Caribbean CBI with E-2 visa access to the United States.

Grenada occupies a unique position in the Caribbean CBI landscape. It is the only program in the region whose citizens are eligible to apply for the United States E-2 Treaty Investor Visa — a non-immigrant visa that permits a Grenadian citizen and their family to live and operate a business in the United States. For American clients planning for a child's future, an extended-family member's mobility, or strategic optionality with respect to US presence, this single feature distinguishes Grenada from every Caribbean alternative.

The Case For It

One feature changes the calculus.

The US E-2 Treaty Investor Visa is, in practice, one of the most desirable non-immigrant visas the United States issues. It permits the holder and their family to reside in the US, operate a qualifying business, and renew indefinitely so long as the underlying investment continues. Grenada is the only Caribbean nation whose citizens can apply. For families considering optionality around future US presence — for themselves, for adult children, or for extended family — Grenada's E-2 access is, on its own, the entire reason to choose this program.

US E-2 Treaty Access

Grenadian citizens may apply for the US E-2 Investor Visa, permitting residence and business operation in the United States.

China Visa-Free

Among the few CBI passports offering visa-free access to mainland China — significant for clients with Asian commercial ties.

Hereditary Citizenship

Citizenship transmitted by descent. Children born after naturalization are Grenadian citizens at birth.

Strong Visa-Free Network

145+ countries including the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Russia.

The Engagement

How we run this program.

01
Strategic Intake

Confidential consultation with explicit attention to E-2 use case if applicable. We coordinate with US immigration counsel where the E-2 is the driver.

02
Documentation

Standard CBI source-of-funds package, plus E-2 readiness if relevant — distinct US filings come later but planning is integrated from the start.

03
CBIC Filing & Diligence

Application filed through an authorized agent. Independent due diligence by internationally recognized firms.

04
Approval, Oath & E-2 Path

Approval issued. Investment completed. Oath taken. For E-2 clients, US filings begin once Grenadian citizenship is conferred.

Frequently Asked

Questions worth answering candidly.

How does the E-2 actually work for a Grenadian citizen?+

Once you hold Grenadian citizenship, you may apply at a US consulate for an E-2 Treaty Investor Visa. The visa requires a substantial, at-risk investment in a real US operating business. Approval grants a five-year visa, renewable indefinitely while the investment is maintained. Spouses and children under 21 are included; spouses receive work authorization. We work with US immigration counsel to structure the E-2 component.

Is Grenada appropriate if I'm not pursuing E-2?+

Yes, though the calculus changes. Without the E-2 use case, Grenada competes directly with St. Kitts and Antigua on cost and visa-free access. It remains a strong program — but if E-2 is irrelevant, we sometimes recommend St. Kitts (longer track record) or Antigua (better family pricing) instead.

Do I need to renounce US citizenship to use the E-2?+

No. The E-2 is a non-immigrant visa for non-US citizens. A US citizen would not use it. The E-2 pathway is primarily relevant for non-US family members of an American — for example, a Mexican-born spouse, an adult child seeking US presence outside the H-1B lottery, or an extended-family member you wish to bring into a US business.

How long does the E-2 follow-on take?+

Once Grenadian citizenship is conferred, the E-2 application itself typically takes three to six months depending on consulate and investment readiness. The full Grenada-to-E-2 timeline runs roughly nine to twelve months end to end.
